Structured Cabling for South Florida Businesses

Every access point, camera, phone and workstation in your building depends on the cable behind the wall. When the cabling is done badly you feel it everywhere — drops that will not run at full speed, dead ports nobody can trace, and hours lost on every service call because no one knows which cable goes where.

Nextek IT designs and installs structured cabling for offices, medical suites, warehouses, retail spaces and multi-tenant buildings across South Florida. Whether you are wiring a new space or replacing the closet everyone avoids, we plan the runs before a single hole is drilled: where the drops land, how pathways and penetrations are handled, and how much backbone capacity you need to support what you are adding next.

If those runs are also carrying security cameras or badge readers, we would rather plan it as one project — power, data and coverage designed together instead of one trade blaming the other.

What our structured cabling projects cover

Copper & Fiber Cabling

Cat6 and Cat6A copper runs, fiber between floors or buildings, keystone jacks, patch panels, and terminations that pass performance testing the first time.

Racks, Panels & Cable Management

Racks, patch panels and wire management with properly dressed bundles and labeled ports — a closet the next technician can actually work in.

Testing, Labeling & Documentation

Every cable tested and certified, every port labeled, with results and documentation showing what is terminated where — so moves, adds and fault-finding take minutes instead of hours.

Moves, Adds & Changes

New desks, new offices, tenant buildouts, or one more camera that needs a run. We add and relocate drops without disturbing the rest of the installation.

Wiring for What You Are Adding Next

Most South Florida offices have added wireless access points, IP cameras, badge readers and cloud phones in the last few years — and every one of them needs a cable and Power over Ethernet. A cable plant sized for desk phones alone will not carry what is being plugged into it now. We will tell you plainly what your existing cabling supports, what it does not, and where a targeted upgrade buys you the most capacity for the least disruption.

Planned Before It Is Pulled

Cabling is one of the few IT projects where the planning matters more than the parts. We walk your space first: where people actually work, where cameras need to look, how ceilings and walls will be opened, and how the runs will be dressed when we leave. If you are building out or renovating, we coordinate with your contractor and electrician so the cable is in before the ceiling closes rather than fished through it afterward.

What you get at the end is an installation that does not need explaining: tested, labeled and documented, with pathways that make the next change easy.

Why South Florida Businesses Choose Nextek IT

Cabling is usually the first thing installed and the last thing anyone thinks about. We treat it as infrastructure, which means:

  • Local crews who can walk your building before quoting it, not a call center reading a checklist
  • One team for cabling, cameras, access control and the network those devices run on
  • Documented as-built records of runs, ports and panels when we hand the project back
  • Scheduling that works around your business hours so your team keeps working
  • Support after the install — the same people you call when you add the next office

What a Nextek Cabling Project Includes

Some jobs are three drops to a new office. Others are the low-voltage package for a building coming out of the ground. Every structured cabling project we take on follows the same path: planned, permitted where it applies, installed to standard, and certified before we hand it back.

We install across Broward and Palm Beach counties and Miami-Dade — Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Coral Springs, West Palm Beach, Miami and the cities between. See all the areas we serve.

Scope of Work: From Permits to Certification

Cable Certification & Testing

Every link we install is tested and certified, and the results come with the project. Certification is the difference between cabling that was installed and cabling that is proven to perform — and it is the record a landlord, tenant, auditor or buyer asks for when they want evidence of what is behind the wall.

IT Room Build-Outs

We build the room your network lives in: racks, ladder rack and cable tray, patch panels, power and UPS coordination, grounding, physical access and airflow — finished to a standard your next technician can walk into and work with.

MDF & IDF Build-Outs

Main distribution frames and intermediate distribution frames planned for today’s device count and tomorrow’s — backbone, panel positions, switch placement, and a riser layout that is documented rather than guessed at.

New Construction & Tenant Fit-Outs

Working from architectural drawings, we install the low-voltage package in new buildings and suites: pathways and conduit coordinated with your electrician and general contractor, drops roughed in before the walls close, and commissioning once the space is ready.

Existing Infrastructure & Retrofits

Occupied building, working offices, ceilings that only open at night. We test what you have, upgrade the closets that are limiting you, and replace what is failing — without pulling a whole floor when a targeted fix will do.

Permits, Plans & Documentation

Where a project calls for it we take on the paperwork: permit applications, drawings and submittals, coordination with the authority having jurisdiction, and as-built records of every run, port and panel when we hand the job back.

Structured Cabling FAQs

1. What does it mean that you certify every cable?

We test each link we install and hand you the results, so you are not taking our word for it. Certification is the record that shows each run performs to the standard it was specified at — typically TIA-568 for commercial copper and fiber, the standard the Telecommunications Industry Association maintains. It matters at handover, and again later when a landlord, tenant, insurer or auditor asks for proof of what is behind the wall.

2. Do you build out IT rooms, MDFs and IDFs?

Yes. We build and dress the rooms the network lives in — main distribution frames and intermediate distribution frames — including racks, ladder rack and cable tray, patch panels, power and UPS coordination, grounding, labeling and documentation. Where the same room also needs cooling, access control or a camera, we scope those at the same time instead of coming back to it later.

3. Can you handle new construction and tenant fit-outs?

That is a large part of what we do. Working from the drawings, we install the low-voltage package for new buildings and suites: the structured cabling along with the pathways for cameras and access control, coordinated with your electrician and general contractor, drops roughed in before the walls close, and commissioning once the space is finished. Getting the cable in during construction is considerably cheaper than fishing it afterward.

4. What about our existing building and existing cabling?

We start by finding out what you already have. We test what is there, tell you plainly what will support the devices you are adding and what will not, and then recommend the smallest change that fixes it — which is often a targeted upgrade in the closet rather than a full re-pull.

5. Do you pull permits and provide plans?

Where a project requires permitting, we handle it — permit applications, drawings, submittals and coordination with the authority having jurisdiction — and we work alongside your architect, engineer or GC where they are already involved. At the end of the job you get as-built documentation of runs, ports and panels, not just an invoice.

6. Do you work in occupied buildings and after hours?

Yes. Most structured cabling work happens in buildings that stay open, so we plan noisy or disruptive work around your hours, protect the areas we work in, and clean up as we go. Where a floor or office has to be cut over, we schedule it so your team is not sitting idle waiting on us.
