Security Camera Systems for South Florida Businesses

A camera system is only worth what it captures. Too many businesses find out after an incident that a camera was pointed the wrong way, the recorder stopped writing weeks earlier, or nobody can remember who has access to the footage.

Nextek IT designs, installs and supports IP camera systems for offices, retail, warehouses, medical suites and multi-tenant properties across South Florida. We plan coverage around your actual risks — entrances, cash handling, inventory, the server room, the back door and the parking lot — size recording retention to what you need, and keep an eye on system health so the cameras are recording when it counts.

Cameras and access control belong on the same system: when a door event and a video clip line up, you get an answer instead of a guess. Both run on the cabling underneath, so we plan the runs once.

What our camera projects cover

Coverage Planning & Camera Placement

We walk the property and plan coverage around entrances, cash and inventory areas, server rooms, parking and the blind spots — not just where it is easy to pull cable.

Recording, Storage & Retention

On-premise recorders or cloud-managed video, with storage sized to your retention needs and remote access you can actually use when you are not on site.

Remote Viewing & Alerts

Live and recorded video from a phone, tablet or desktop, plus alerts on the motion and line-crossing events that matter instead of every car that drives past.

Cameras that go offline, a recorder that fills a disk, a lens that needs cleaning — we monitor system health and handle service so the system keeps doing its job.

Cameras That Are Still Recording When You Need Them

It is easy to buy cameras. It is harder to end up with coverage that holds up when an incident actually happens. We start from the questions you will need answered later — who came in the back door, what left the loading area, what happened in the parking lot at 9pm — and design backwards from there. That includes honest advice about reusing cameras that still work, and about where a new camera is genuinely worth the money.

Coverage First, Cameras Second

The number of cameras matters far less than where they are aimed. A ten-camera system planned around entrances, cash handling and inventory will out-perform a thirty-camera system scattered at ceilings wherever there was a ladder.

During the site walk we look at light, angles, sight lines, where people will recognize faces versus silhouettes, and how far cable and power can realistically reach. If your building already has cameras, we will tell you which ones are worth keeping and what is worth adding before recommending a replacement.

Fully Managed IT - fully managed IT services

Why South Florida Businesses Choose Nextek IT

Most camera problems are not hardware problems — they are planning, network and follow-through problems. That is where we are strongest:

  • Coverage designed around your risks, not a fixed package or a camera count
  • Recording retention sized to how far back you actually need to look
  • Video, door access and network managed by one team, so the systems work together
  • Camera health monitored, so a failed camera is caught by us and not by you
  • Local support when you need footage pulled for an incident, an insurer or the police

What a Nextek Camera Project Includes

Security camera systems are a construction project with a network attached to it. Cameras need a position, a cable, power and a recorder that keeps writing — which is why we plan coverage, cabling and retention as one job instead of three.

We install across Broward and Palm Beach counties and Miami-Dade — Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Coral Springs, West Palm Beach, Miami and the cities between. See all the areas we serve.

Scope of Work: From Site Plan to Handover

New Construction & Building Additions

The best time to install cameras is while the walls are open. Working from the drawings we place cameras, pull cable and coordinate power with your electrician and general contractor, so the finished building has coverage without surface conduit or fished ceilings.

Retrofits Onto Existing Cabling

In an occupied building we work with what is there, adding runs where the ceiling allows and reusing existing cable and pathways where it is sound. If a location needs a new drop, we will tell you what it takes before we start cutting.

Cable, Power & Network for Cameras

Cameras live on PoE switches and their own network segment, sized for the bandwidth and recording the system actually needs. Done properly, camera traffic stops competing with your staff’s, and one camera going bad cannot take the network with it.

Permits, Plans & Documentation

Where permitting applies, we handle it along with the drawings and documentation. You get a system diagram and as-built records of where every camera is, how it is addressed and how the recorder is configured — documentation most installs never leave behind.

Recorders, Storage & Retention Sizing

Storage sized to your retention decision rather than a guess, with the recorder, drives and health alerting chosen to match the camera count and resolution. We will show you the trade-off between retention, resolution and cost before you buy.

Handover, Training & Support

Accounts, permissions and mobile access set up, then training on pulling a clip for the people who will need to. After handover, security camera systems are monitored for health and we are the ones who get called when a camera drops offline.

Security Camera System FAQs

1. How many cameras do we need?

Fewer than most quotes suggest. The right number of cameras for most security camera systems comes from where you need to see, not from a package size — entrances, cash and inventory areas, the server room, loading and parking. We walk the property with you, show you what coverage each position actually gives, and put it in writing before you buy anything.

2. How long should we keep footage?

That depends on what you need it for and any requirements that apply to your industry. Many businesses settle on 30 days, others need considerably longer. We size storage to your retention decision rather than guessing, so you are not discovering which day the footage expires during an incident.

3. Can you install cameras in a building under construction or being renovated?

Yes — and it is the best time to do it. Cameras, cabling and power planned from the drawings mean no fished walls and no visible conduit later, and security camera systems commissioned before you move in are one less project waiting on opening day. We coordinate with your electrician and general contractor, then commission the system once the space is ready.

4. Can we use the cameras we already have?

Often, partly. Most modern IP cameras follow the ONVIF interoperability standard, which is what allows a recorder to manage cameras from different manufacturers. We test what you have, tell you which cameras are still worth keeping, and design additions that work with them where that is sensible — and we will say plainly when it is not.

5. Can we view the cameras from home or on a phone?

Yes. Live and recorded video from your security camera systems, with role-based access for the people who need it, alerts on the events that matter, and remote viewing from a phone, tablet or desktop. We set up the accounts and show you how to pull and export a clip when you need one.

6. Do camera installs need permits, and who documents the system?

Some projects and jurisdictions require permitting for security camera systems, and we handle it where it applies, along with plans and documentation. The same goes for the network side — retention, bandwidth and privacy requirements are flagged up front. Cameras and access control run on the same cabling, so we plan both together when you are doing both.
